While most actors face a necessary weight to maintain while shooting, it sounds like Wonka’s cast had quite a sweet adventure during filming. We already heard that namesake star Timothée Chalamet took a dip in a vat of chocolate, but it also sounds like Warner Bros. spared no expense, enlisting a skilled on-set chocolatier.
In a joke-ridden interview with People, director Paul King expressed how he thinks he’s “gained about 50 pounds” but hopes he can slash that down by the time the movie comes out. He then joked about Chalamet and how he’s “trying to fatten him up.” He then went on to praise the chocolatier and her craft, saying the chocolates tasted better than they had to.
“She made these incredible concoctions, and we would taste them. They tasted much better than they needed to, because obviously actors are good at pretending things, but the miracle was they tasted every bit as good as they looked.”
He then touched more on the dip Chalamet took in a vat of hot chocolate alongside supporting actress Calah Lane. They did dip into a vat of chocolate to immerse themselves, and we can only imagine how sticky they must’ve felt stepping out.
Wonka flows into theaters on December 15.
