The Marvels allegedly has the MCU’s shortest runtime

The Marvels

Marvel’s upcoming next MCU flick, The Marvels, is alleged to be among only a handful of films set in the universe to be less than two hours in runtime. It doesn’t mean that it’s a super short movie, though, as it’s only just shy of the two-hour mark, clocking in 107 minutes, which lines up to 1 hour and 47 minutes.

As reported by Binge Watch This (via Comicbook), this would end up being Marvel Studios’ shortest film in its library. It does fit in nicely, though, considering the movie is based on openly based on the ’90s and action movies of the time, which often enjoyed a modest runtime with powerful action. It’s also possible with director Nia DaCosta at the helm, who is more known for succinct and focused storytelling, that she is trying to do something more with the IP.

Considering DeCosta spoke about the very real thing that is superhero fatigue and how she is trying to stand out from the rest of the other Marvel flicks by being “silly and wacky,” it’s possible that action may play second fiddle to establishing more about the characters or something of that nature rather than packing the movie to the brim with serious combat scenes.

The Marvels follows the events of Ms. Marvel and the Secret Invasion and sees Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris taking center stage this time around.

The Marvels hits theaters on November 10.
