HBO Max Europe removes Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Justice League

HBO Max Europe removed Zack Snyder’s Justice League with no warning on the country’s streaming service. The 2021 retelling of 2017’s Justice League saw favorable reviews.

This change follows Max removing the film trailer earlier this year. In a statement to Screen Rant, DC chalked it up to music licensing issues causing trouble, leading them to private the trailer. It isn’t clear if they’re going to fix the situation or let the trailer remain private for the foreseeable future.

It’s kind of bizarre, though, as this affects exclusively the European audience, as it still shows up for those in the US or other regions. It’s even more of a bizarre choice considering Zack Snyder’s Justice League was an original, which rules out the frequent decision to cut underperforming third-party content.

It could be akin to what Disney is doing with its own platform, which has recently gutted some of its lesser-viewed or obscure shows and films to keep its pockets nice and lined. It’s hard to tell if it’ll show back up on the platform again or not.
