Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 streams on Disney+ in August

Three months after its theatrical release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is finally coming to Disney+. The film is the swansong to James Gunn’s work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he departs to become the co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 follows Peter Quill, portrayed by Chris Pratt, venturing to save Rocket’s life. The film also features much of the same cast as previous entries while also introducing others like Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, Maria Bakalova as Cosmo, and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.

MCU fans have been waiting for literal months for the film to hit the streaming platform. This three-month wait has become a trend for recent films that hit theaters. Other superhero movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever took around 80 days to hit the service while Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania took just shy of 90 days.

GotG Vol. 3 made a huge splash in theaters when it launched, much like any other MCU flick. Raking in a whopping $840 million worldwide, marking itself as the second highest-grossing film this year, only getting beaten out by The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The film will hit Disney+ on August 2.
