Elemental eyes Disney+ launch later this month

Elemental

If you were holding out on watching Pixar’s Elemental for a release on Disney+, your time has come. The flick hit theaters in mid-June and has had a triumphant rise from a fumbled release to a not-so-fumbled release.

As reported by Variety, Pixar’s element-themed feature finally has a release date on Disney’s very own streaming platform after waiting for the film’s theatrical release to ride out. Now that it’s been months since its debut, it seems the Mouse House sees it fit to start streaming the film next week.

On top of its debut on the platform, Disney’s also cooked up Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental, a documentary about its production. To think this film was marked as Pixar’s worst opening ever, only to rebound and have pretty good box office numbers in the end.

Elemental takes on the journey of Leah Lewis as Ember Lumen and Mamoudou Athie as Wade Ripple, two different elements with very different world views. With Wade at the helm, he wants to challenge her view of the world.

All in all, the story stems largely from the experiences of director Peter Sohn, whose father immigrated from Korea to New York and created a convenience store in the Bronx. More on the touching story will be talked about in Good Chemistry.

Elemental will debut on Disney+ on September 13.
